WHO WE ARE

Traditional Korean Taekwondo, taught properly

For more than 30 years, Toogee Martial Arts has taught real Taekwondo to kids, teens, adults and whole families across Australia and PNG. This is who we are.

What Toogee means

The Name

The name Toogee comes from the Korean word for fighting spirit, 투지. That is what we set out to build in every student, both in and out of the dojang. Not the will to fight, but the resilience to keep going, the courage to try, and the quiet confidence to stand your ground when it matters.

Built on one belief

What We Offer

Toogee Martial Arts was founded by Grand Master Robert Frost and has spent more than three decades teaching traditional Korean Taekwondo across New South Wales, Queensland and Papua New Guinea.

Grand Master Frost has trained and taught for over 40 years, learning under Grand Master Chong Chul Rhee in the Rhee Taekwondo lineage. He was teaching Taekwondo internationally before most schools in the country existed, and he built Toogee on a simple belief: teach the art seriously, and look after your people.

Today that belief runs through 25+ dojangs and every instructor who teaches under the Toogee name.

What we teach

Our foundation is the original Chang-Hon system, the military-style Korean Taekwondo built around the Chon-Ji patterns.

We also teach the Kukkiwon Olympic style and its Taeguk poomsae, so students learn Taekwondo the way it is meant to be learned.

To keep our self-defence genuinely practical, we blend in elements of Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai and Kali alongside the core curriculum.

What we believe

Our Philosophy
  1. 01

    Every belt is earned.

We do not hand out grades. Confidence means more when you worked for it.

  2. 02

    Discipline and respect come first.

The skills matter, but the character matters more.

  3. 03

    Families train together.

Some of the best moments happen when parents and kids grade side by side.

  4. 04

    Self-defence, not aggression.

We teach people to protect themselves and to avoid trouble, never to seek it.

  5. 05

The black belt is a beginning.

It is not the finish line. It is where the real learning starts.

One school, many homes

The Network

Toogee is not a single studio. It is a network of 25+ dojangs across Australia and PNG, sharing one curriculum and one grading standard.

Train at any of our locations at no extra cost, so a belt earned in one town is recognised in every other. Wherever life takes you, there is a Toogee mat waiting.

More than a place to train

Community

Alongside weekly classes, we run camps and tournaments, primarily across New South Wales, where students test themselves, represent their dojang and meet the wider Toogee family. It is where friendships form and where students discover what they are capable of.

"Joined with my son almost two years ago to help build some self confidence for both of us. Had so much fun that my whole family have signed up too."

LizMedowie Dojang

"Returning to training after a 25 year break renewed my self-confidence and increased my fitness. We are very proud to be part of Toogee Martial Arts."
